EARLY YEARS OF MEXICO’S OIL INDUSTRY FEATURED IN LONDON’S CANNING HOUSE
Exhibit shows 100 year-old links between the UK, Mexico and Houston
WHAT: “The Birth of Mexico’s Oil Industry (1900-1938)” photo exhibit celebrates Sir Weetman Pearson’s (First Viscount Cowdray) legacy at Canning House. A private view reception will be included.

WHO: Houston Sister Cities and Canning House present this historic photo exhibit for the first time in London. Distinguished business leaders will talk about the important role of Weetman Pearson in the Mexican oil industry, and how he became an important figure in the United Kingdom.
WHY: 2010 marks the 100th anniversary of “Potrero de Llano,” one of the most productive oil fields in history, worldwide. The long-time industrial relationship between Mexico and the UK is remembered through the history of the Eagle Petroleum Company (“El Aguila”).
