HOUSTON-TAMPICO PRESENTS "HUAPANGO" FOLK DANCE OF NORTHEAST MEXICO AT iFEST 2008
WHAT: “Huapango, Folk Dance of North East Mexico” live performances at iFest . WHEN: Saturday April 19, and Sunday April 20, 2008 WHERE: Houston International Festival, 901 Bagby, Houston TX 77002 WHO Blanca Pulido (Huapango singer and dancer from Tampico, México), “Los Alacranes Trio”, Ballet Folklorico Mixteco will perform live during International Festival. WHY: “Huapango” from the Huasteca is one of Mexico’s most authentic and unknown traditions. Houston-Tampico is proud to present this dance in big way on television and live performances at Houston’s International Festival 2008. INVITES: Houston-Tampico Sister City Assoc. Blanca Pulido is the preeminent Huapango singer/dancer, and she is from Tampico, Mexico. Her record “Pasión Huasteca” (Huastecan Passion) includes traditional and contemporary songs from the Huasteca region. The Houston-Tampico Sister City Assoc. is proud to present Blanca Pulido for the second time at iFest and launch a 30 min. Television show to introduce the traditional folk dance of Tampico, México to the Houston community. Invitation to media, community leaders and GENERAL PUBLIC.
